A DECOR expert has shared her tips for sprucing up your living room without spending a dime.
Gabrielle Savoie, the founder of the popular decor site Savvy Home, shared five home hacks that encourage you to get creative in order to completely transform your living space.
DECLUTTER
Decluttering your room can make your living space feel brand new.
Gabrielle said to remove built-up clutter in order to create a clean and spacious room.
She recommended removing everything from your room and then slowly putting back in must-have items that you want to display.
CHANGE LAYOUT
Next, Gabrielle recommended remodeling your living space to give it a whole new feel.
To easily spruce up your room, the decor expert recommended displaying your furniture in a new layout such as placing couches in an L-shape or facing chairs toward each other.
“Even the smallest tweaks can make a major difference,” she said.
REHANG CURTAINS
To instantly make a room feel bigger, Gabrielle suggested rehanging the window curtains from a higher rod.
She said that hanging your curtains at ceiling height can allow more natural light to flood in the room.
If your curtains fail to reach the floor from such a high height, Gabrielle suggested sewing on a contrasting border to the ends of your curtains to help them reach the floor.
SWAP DECOR
Tired of looking at the same old wall decor?
The Savvy Home founder said to swap out decorations from around your home to give a room a brand new look, as recommended by the decor expert.
For an instant refresh, Gabrielle said to switch out some of your favorite items from your bedroom with the decor in your living room.
This will give your entire home a quick and cheap remodel.
STYLE COFFEE TABLE
Finally, Gabrielle recommended restyling your coffee table to spruce up your living space.
She said it’s the small details that bring a room together, suggesting you: “Stack a few books, display a candle or vase, or corral the necessary items into a tray,” she said.
To keep the display changing, try styling your coffee table for every holiday or season, that way you’re constantly switching it up.
To help neatly hang and display your curtains, one DIY expert shared how to use a $3 pipe cover to make your curtains look more full.
