JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) — Two southern Indiana ladies labored for months to open their furniture procedure. But this just isn’t the standard purchase-and-sell storefront that dots some of the Louisville area’s most common browsing districts.
Content Property Furniture Bank was designed to enable individuals transferring from the street or a shelter into lasting housing. Christy Spence and Meghan Rogge run it out of an old warehouse room in Jeffersonville, opening in November and immediately serving to families who will need donations and volunteers. Though searching for a bigger room to keep items for her business — La Storia House Furnishings — Spence bought the plan to commence a furnishings bank.
“We know that a house without any furnishings isn’t really really a household,” Spence mentioned Thursday.
Happy Home serves the complete Louisville location, supplying furnishings and decor to people coming out of homelessness, domestic violence scenarios or other everyday living situations that depart them with tiny else than the outfits on their backs.
“This is anything that is rampant, and we have I mean countless numbers … of little ones, moms and dads, even just individuals that snooze on the ground, will not even have a mattress,” Spence said. “We want to be able to give them some dignity to make up some self-confidence. And when they get all of these furnishings, when we furnish a house, it is really theirs.”
Spence and Rogge — her daughter — provide everything from couches to cookware.
“You can just explain to how grateful and grateful they are for us coming in and not just providing a sofa,” Rogge claimed. “We present all of it.”
Delighted Residence will work with social support teams like Louisville’s Coalition for the Homeless to be matched with consumers. And apart from donations of household furniture or money, the mom-daughter duo stated volunteers are needed to assistance manage their warehouse, figuring out what desires to go and what can be fastened and donated.
“It’d truly just be excellent to be capable to offer all of this for as numerous households in as several homes as we can,” Rogge reported.
