Are you ready to say aloha to a lifestyle that includes a property in Hawaii? For a growing number of luxury homebuyers, owning a residence in the Pacific Ocean state is the way to go. “High-end properties in Hawaii have been in incredibly high demand ever since the pandemic started,” says Matt Beall, the CEO and principal broker of the luxury real estate company Hawai’i Life. “It’s a destination with open spaces, access to nature, and plenty of fresh air, which is everything people want today and why properties are selling so quickly.”
According to data from Hawai’i Life, the first three quarters of 2021 saw 64 home transactions north of $10 million, compared with 10 from the same period the year before. Also, the number of transactions north of $3 million in the first quarter of this year was 634, compared with 215 in 2020. Sales were well spread among all of Hawaii’s islands. “This is the biggest run the real estate market has ever seen,” Beall says.
Options for luxury homes in Hawaii are available both within and outside of branded residential developments, but Beall says that the former offer added benefits. “Developments give you great amenities. In addition to access to the ocean, you have a spa, tennis, water sports, and much more,” he says.
