LOGAN, Utah – Malouf has turned to a top 100 retail merchandising executive to lead its furniture merchandising team.
Sharon Gjertsen has been named director of furniture merchandising for the company and will play a leading role in expanding and developing Malouf’s Salt Flat furniture line. Malouf acquired the company in 2020.
In her new position, Gjertsen will oversee strategy planning and execution, product design and development, sourcing and logistics across all Salt Flat categories – living room, dining room, outdoor and occasional – and select pieces for Malouf Home and Weekender.
“Malouf is such a well-respected company in the industry,” Gjertsen said. “They have great products, great people and an even greater cause. I have seen them become the industry leader they are today, and I’m excited to join the team and further strengthen the furniture categories.
“I’m very impressed with Malouf’s product lineup, especially Salt Flat,” she said. “It’s style focused and on-trend, and we want to keep it that way while finding ways to elevate the assortments.”
Prior to joining Malouf, Gjertsen was vice president of merchandising for Houston-based Star Furniture, a position she held for more than four years. In addition to her time at Star, she was a buyer for Art Van Furniture for more than 11 years, and vice president of merchandising for Pinellas Park, Fla.-based Kane’s Furniture.
“Sharon has a rich background in merchandising, and we’re thrilled to have her as part of the Malouf team,” said Eric Holmstead, president of Malouf Home. “Her insight and guidance in the furniture category will be instrumental as we continue our shift from a sleep accessories provider to a whole home furnishings and wellness company.”
