Primary Bedroom Decorating Ideas – Color & Chic

master bedroom decorating ideas

Our bedroom has gone through a few different iterations since moving into our home. New pillows or taller lamps can really transform a space, even when big pieces like the bed and rug stay the same. We’ve tried or considered many primary bedroom decorating ideas over the past three years and I wanted to share them with you today.

Bedding & Beds

Your bed is the focal point of your room and the bedding you choose really helps define the space. We’re huge fans of Boll & Branch, in part because their fabrics are responsibly sourced and fair-trade. Their waffle blanket is quite springy and breathable, and attractive enough to be layered on top of the bed. It’s incredible how soft their signature sheet set is. They get even softer with every wash! Then there’s this signature duvet set, which I think is incredibly sophisticated with the clean, modern embroidery on the edges. I also really love the contrast embroidery on this percale duvet cover.

The euro pillows you add make the bed even more elevated, creating more texture and height. I like velvet options because they add an air of luxury. This sham comes in a beautiful array of colors and has a subtly distressed look. An even more dynamic option is the embroidery on this sham.

We absolutely love our headboard. It has a clean, versatile look to it and the height is another luxurious detail. One of my favorite master bedroom decorating ideas is this upholstered bed – it’s gorgeous and looks far more expensive than it is. Another piece that’s surprisingly affordable, this bench brings beautiful texture.

Nightstands & Accessories

This lamp is truly stunning. It’s very warm and sculptural, and truly makes a statement. A personal photo or two is an important addition to any bedroom. This acrylic frame is on a swivel, allowing for versatility without taking up too much visual space. For the wall, I love how sleek and dramatic this brass frame is. The blend of modern and traditional in this rug creates a piece with very unique character.

A wonderful way to bring life into a space is to incorporate a gorgeous vase and fresh flowers. Your mood will automatically be lifted! I adore the caning on this nightstand. The woven material paired with the simple silhouette actually reminds me of Serena & Lily for less. Another amazing lamp is this brass one that has an industrial appearance you can pair with many different styles. Finally there’s one of my favorite combinations, brass and marble, featured on this reeded oak nightstand that is basically a work of art.
