Basic ideas to decorate your bedroom

If you have just moved into a new house, chances are you’ll want to renovate it. Even if that isn’t the case, the house you’re currently staying in might need a good glam-up, especially the bedroom. The home decor market is forecast to grow at a rate of 3.9% CAGR by 2027, with the luxury furniture market growing at 4.7% CAGR by 2026.

If you would also like to give your bedroom the ideal kind of decoration, read on to know some basic ideas for decorating your bedroom.

  1. Cozy corner

Since the bedroom is your personal space, you will want to curl up in a corner with a book on your lap after a long day of office or college. Have a small “cozy corner” where you can install a plush couch with a small coffee table next to it.

If you’re a lover of soft toys, you can always place a baby panda or unicorn plushie on your couch. Have a bit of light overhead so that your eyes don’t get strained while reading, but also make sure the lighting isn’t too harsh for you.

  1. Small space storage

Cramped up bedroom with lots of little items lying around everywhere? Small storage space might be the solution to your problems. This works especially well for the children’s bedroom, where you can find tiny action figures or princess dolls strewn all over the floor.

If your bedroom is small or your closet space is full, bring in a vintage clothing rack to hang your clothes and make the room look stylish. Or get a small chest and place it at the foot of your bed. You can decorate the chest however you wish and store small items in it.

  1. Mix patterns

If you want the bedroom to look trendy and the colors to pop out, try mixing and matching patterns. Start by painting your walls a crisp white or light beige. Next, add some graphic patterns like stripes or checks using a patterned rug or upholstered headboard.

Topping the bed with white bedsheets and pillows will make the patterns stand out even more. For some luxury bedding in Australia, try companies like My Linen or Lujo Home, two of the leading players in here.

  1. Bedside bookcase

For all the bookworms out there, a built-in bedside bookcase is a must. If your room space is small, swap a bulky shelf for a narrow built-in bookcase right next to the bed for some bedtime reading. This space will not only store books and papers but also enhance the entire look of the room.

If you are a fan of vintage ornaments or showpieces, you can even display them here, giving your room an aesthetic feel.

  1. Woody tones

If you love to be amidst nature, the best way to feel it is to have earthy, brownish colors in your bedroom. Painted plank walls that look like wood are a popular choice nowadays.

You can even install a wood-salvaged door with a black oak herringbone flooring to complete the look. This kind of earthy color will look especially nice with light green walls. For the extra zing, add a rustic bench or sofa made of pine

  1. Cover the windows

No matter what kind of window you like- a small, cozy one or huge bay windows- it is good to have them covered once in a while. Not only do they block out harsh sunlight but also give you the privacy you need.

If you like soft, sheer curtains, you can combine opaque roller blinds to block out the morning light. You can even use drapery lining to keep the sun out when you want to sleep late.

  1. No space for gadgets

Even though it sounds ridiculous, a bedroom with minimum electronic gadgets is an ideal bedroom. This room is your happy place and too many phones or laptops can disrupt your peace, not to mention your sleep.

While having your phone with you at night is fine, make sure other devices are as far away as possible. This will help you to relax mentally and cherish your room even more!

Over to you…

These were a few ideas for decorating your bedroom in a trendy and fashionable manner. When your bedroom looks cozy and chic, you automatically feel a sense of pride and happiness for creating such a lovely room. Figure out what color palettes and designs suit you best and start working!
