• The Florida Swimming Pool Association recognized nine companies that received more than 30 awards of excellence in the organization’s annual Design Awards Competition during the 50th anniversary Everything Under the Sun Expo.
The annual FSPA Design Awards program gives members an opportunity to enter their pools, spas and water features for judging on workmanship, soundness of design, beauty, practicality and safety.
Winners were selected by the Design Awards Committee, a volunteer group of decorated professionals in the pool and spa industry.
Lucas Lagoons, of Sarasota, Manasota Chapter, won Best in Show for its “truly wild” multi-level pool paradise. Lucas also took 10 other awards, including three Gold and a Technical Achievement Award.
Other winners included Superior Pools of Southwest Florida, Port Charlotte, Charlotte Harbor Chapter, which took home three Gold Awards for two new designs and one Residential Restoration.
Aquatech Pools GC, of Nokomis, Manasota chapter, won six, including an Award of Merit. Indigo Pool Patio BBQ, of Venice, Charlotte Harbor Chapter, won an Award of Merit and a Silver.
• The SCORE Manasota chapter was recently recognized as top of its district, ninth overall among over 300 chapters nationally and a Diamond Excellence chapter.
Its impact on local communities in Sarasota and Manatee counties last year includes: 107 new businesses started; 716 jobs created; and 6,667 free mentoring and educational services delivered.
• The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for the 2022 Frank G. Berlin, Sr. Small Business Awards, presented by the Herald-Tribune.
These awards recognize the leading organizations that are writing the next chapter of Sarasota’s legacy, and the deadline to apply is April 18 by 4 p.m.
Applications are scored by a panel of volunteer judges and three finalists are selected for interviews in each category.
